Found via the brilliant Very Short List, an ad for Big Yellow by agency CHI & Partners. The ad won a Bronze Medal in the 2007 Cannes Lions competition. I am a sucker for stop-motion animation, and this ad uses it perfectly to illustrate the waves of ‘stuff’ which we accumulate over our lives. As someone who swings from chronic hoarder to ‘just get rid of it all’ minimalist (seemingly) every few days, and living in a small flat with not enough storage space, this ad does speak to me. Anyway, enjoy it, it’s fun.
I was lucky enough to see the world premier in Austin this year, and my DVD of the film is due in two weeks, and I’m very excited, so here is an interview I found with director Gary Hustwit on the making of the film.
I have been meaning to write about this since I heard the terrible news on Friday night. Tony Wilson was an inspiration to so many, but I am not very good at these sorts of things, so I will let people far more qualified do the talking. He will be missed.
